Constructing Teddy and His Friends showcases a dozen different animal patterns starting with Mortimer the Teddy Bear, then covering animals and fantasy characters from around the world; including Phillbert the Golly, Erik the Elf, Nils the Gnome, Ickabod the Four-Legged Bear, Tom Collins the Pack Rat, Esme the Elephant, Viola the Monkey (or chimp), Phoebe the Panda, Bluegum the Koala, Ethel the Emu and Reggie the Rabbit.
All animals can be crafted from a variety of different fabrics and styles with ideas for variations. Jennifer provides techniques to give the animals open mouths and realistic tongues, whiskers and tufted eyebrows, waxed noses, extra joints for increased pose-ability, wired ears and tails.
Jennifer Laing is Australia's best known bear artist, and one of the first in Australia, making her first bear in 1990.
Jennifer prefers to hand-stitch her bears, and consequently has a small output of rather small bears. Her favorite size range is four to eight inches, enough for a handful of love!
Jennifer teaches all level of bear making, right up to explaining the pattern and design process, and sharing her techniques in all areas of creating bears and other animals. Her small workshops are extremely popular, and she teaches them in many countries.
Jennifer enjoys writing books about the art of bear making. This is her fourth book, with more planned for the future. Her own bears have won international awards and are in high demand all over the world.
